Professor Welcome to class! I look forward to our journey through U.S. history together. You might be thinking, “What on Earth am I doing here? What do I do first?” That’s a good question! I would begin by going over our announcements, and then looking over Module 1. It will take you step-by-step through that lesson's work.

A little about me: I have degrees from Florida State University and Southern New Hampshire University. I have written three history books, and I’ve worked as a columnist and photojournalist for one of the largest publishers in the United States. During all of that time, the lessons I learned in my first history course stuck with me, and I can absolutely tell you with confidence just how much you can learn in this course as well.

This class covers topics such as the Columbian exchange, European colonization of the New World, trans-Atlantic slavery, the causes and consequences of the US War of Independence, the negotiation of the US constitution, industrialization, monetary policy in the early US, westward expansion, the evolution of sectional conflict, and the US Civil War. In the second half of the term we will learn about the late 1800's, and then the turn-of-the-century.  I have been exactly where you are — a student in an online classroom— so I know what it’s like.  We will succeed together or this class is not a success.  My greatest hope is that you'll take what we learn and use some part of that knowledge during the rest of your college and professional life. I have a motto I like to repeat. “There are no emergencies in our class.” Put another way – rest assured that I’ve got a plan for us, and no matter what comes up, I’m here to help. Sound good?

Please reach out and contact me if you have any questions or concerns. I maintain an “open door” policy and encourage communication. Our class office hours are by appointment. I will usually setup at least one day a week for you and I to communicate, hopefully in a Zoom meeting or cell call. You may always schedule another time if the hours do not work for you, and I’m available on Skype, Facetime, Zoom, phone, text and email. I am online most of the days throughout the week so please use the Q&A Forum if you need to ask a quick question, or of course you can email me. I prefer it if you schedule an appointment by text before you call me, since you might get sent to voicemail by my phone. You may call me Prof.Arnold, Prof. Wade, or Wade. It's up to you!

Look around, and make sure you have access to our first module. I'm excited for us to get started! Again- always reach out if you have questions, and I look forward to a great session together!

Always Here To Help-
